Global leader in carpet printing technology joins American Flooring Alliance (AFA)

On September 13 – 14 we exhibited at the American Flooring Alliance Floortek exhibition in Dalton. With our colorful booth, built on our very own printed carpet, we showcased the possibilities of digital printing in the carpet capital of the world.

It being the first (of hopefully many) exhibitions for Optimum Digital USA, we were amazed by the positive responses we received. Digital printing is quite nascent to the carpet industry in America. Traditional dying methods still represent over 95% of how carpets create the patterns and colors that bring them to life. However what digital printing provides is the ability to have full control over this process. You can upload any pattern, with as many combinations of the over 16,000 color possibilities that the CMYK gamut provides. There are no minimum print requirements either – prints can be unique and customizable. With the Picasso-Carpet, all you need is a high quality image that you want printed on carpet. This full solution includes the windup/accumulator, printer and fixation, and is the first of its kind to be offered at a fraction of existing options.

As part of our 2030 Green Initiative Goals, we’ve made a conscious choice to stop selling our nylon printing line. All our printers are now only sold to print on polyster based flooring and rugs. This eliminates the need to steam or wash the carpet, whilst still retaining the durability and quality feel, and reducing the cost of production. There are of course limitations to digital printing too, pile height penetration as an example is currently limited to 1/4 inches, for now at least. The width is limited to 126 inches (320cm) or 197 inches (500cm) depending on the printer – with ‘unlimited’ length Our R&D team are always working to push the boundaries of digital printing – which is increasingly becoming a equal, if not better, alternative to traditional methods.
Overall, we are proud of our first exhibition in America and thankful for all the people we were able to meet. If you weren’t able to catch us there, we look forward to meeting at future exhibitions. You can also reach out directly to find out more or schedule a demo. We currently have the full Picasso-Carpet line in our demo location in Atlanta, GA.
